The Art of Michael Angelo Gagliardi

Michael Angelo Gagliardi was born in New York City in 1962 to Irish and Italian Parents. He received a B.F.A. in painting and sculpture and a M.A. in Theatrical Design from C.W. College of Long Island University in 1985.

Michael Angelo became a certified scuba diver in 1996. He has since received certifications in technical diving including Full Cave and Technical Gas Certifications. He began drawing the wet world almost immediately after he began diving.

Michael Angelo continues to explore many different styles of drawing. As his dive skills changes and developed so did his drawing style. The way he saw the wet world on his first dive, differs greatly from his 400th dive, so too has the way he draws changed. He has a particular fascination with the caves and springs of Florida and the shipwrecks of the Great Lakes. His was honored when he was chosen to be a diver/artist aboard the 2002 USS Monitor expedition which raised the gun turret. He made multiple dives and drawings of that famous ship.

He has, since 1989, lived in Chicago where he works as a Stagehand doing sets, lights and props for Broadway Musicals. He has a non-diving wife and two children who continue to be entertained by his stories from a Wet World.

Call to Entry: Postcards to the G8

-- Delivered by Feed43 service

In June 2010 the G8 Summit is being hosted in Muskoka, Ontario Canada. In response, Muskoka Arts & Crafts, a non-profits visual arts organization is calling on artists worldwide to submit small pieces of work based on issues of concern to a show called 'Postcards to the G8'.

While the leaders of the world will be attending the G8 with their own agendas in hand, the idea behind this show is to ask the People, 'what issues are important to you?'

The show will run from June 5th to 30th and will be based at the Chapel Gallery in Bracebridge, though it is hoped that if enough entries are received installations will be located throughout the Muskoka region during the week of the G8.

There are no entry fees for 'Postcards', and no limit to the number of pieces an artist may submit. Submissions should be made on 4X6" pieces of paper and may be done in any medium.

For further details, and to download the call to entry, please see our website.

United States - Custom Fine Art Fired onto Tile

Aesthetic Tile Imaging

Fine Art - Fired onto Porcelain Tile - Very Durable and Long Lasting
For Pools, Fountains, Patios, Facades, Landscaping, Kitchens, Baths, etc.

Please allow me this opportunity to introduce you to a very unique process that will allow you to incorporate fine art paintings integral with architecture and design!

I specialize in manufacturing custom fine art porcelain tile murals. I work with professional, high resolution, digital scans (captures) of artist's work which can be scaled to virtually any size spanning across an array of tiles. Using inorganic pigments and fluxes fired at high kiln temperatures the licensed artwork is transformed into a permanent tile mural. The resultant surface is very durable and as such can be used for outdoor as well as indoor installations. For walking surfaces such as in wet locations, a fired-on slip resistant texture treatment is available.

I am seeking architects, designers, and builders with interests in using this process to transform existing fine art paintings into a format suitable for outdoor settings such as landscaping, pools, fountains, patios, facades, and landscaping. Artists with these or other interests are encouraged to participate via licensing.

I look forward to hearing from all of you. Please visit my website at http://www.atileimage.com. Telephone calls and in-person visits are welcome.

Israel - The Papercut Haggadah
October 3, 2010 at 3:55 AM

Papercut Haggadah

-- Delivered by Feed43 service

Commissioned by private collectors almost ten years ago, Granot's Haggadah was crafted with the goal of evoking the intense emotions attached with the Passover Seder by utilizing geometric and abstract shapes instead of the usual symbols. Fifty five pages long, every word of Hebrew text in his Haggadah is handcut, with each page standing as both an independent work of art and a single piece of a beautiful, thematically unified whole. Each page tackles a certain aspect or song associated with the Seder, with one piece titled "Ma Nishtanah" (The Four Questions). Another page of Granot's Haggadah is dedicated to representing "Pesach, Matzah, Maror" (The Passover Offering, the Unleavened Bread and the Bitter Herb), and incorporates shapes that evoke the traditional matzah. Each of the 55 pages in his Papercut Haggadah measures 53cm x38cm (21″ x15″) with some pages weighing more than 5 pounds and exhibits Granot's unique style while fulfilling his goal in representing the emotions of Passover.
